Newton, NJ – The Mitchell Insurance Agency of Newton, NJ, a full service independent agency offering personal, commercial and special package insurance, formed a team of 15 participants and raised over $2,000 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life® of Greater Sussex, held May 30 – 31, at the Sussex County Community College in Newton, NJ.
The American Cancer Society’s signature activity, the Relay for Life is a worldwide event that brings 3.5 million people together to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer and the strength of the survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease and continue the fight to end cancer.
During the Relay for Life event, teams camp out at a local high school, park or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Donations and contributions made during the event help to fund cutting edge research, early detection and prevention education, advocacy efforts and life-affirming patient services.
“Almost everyone knows someone – a family member, a friend, a co-worker – that has been touched by cancer in some way. But by fighting back against this disease as a team, we can change that,” said Keith Mitchell, President of the Mitchell Insurance Agency. “We were happy to participate in the Relay for Life event, and proud that we were able to exceed our own expectations and raise $2,000 to help the American Cancer Society find a cure and finally put an end to cancer.”
